Humpworthy Hump Day: Amazing “Big Bang Big Boom” Video

I know I tend to be a bit hyperbolic and valley-girl-esque, claiming that many things are amazing! Or awesome! It’s just my nature. I have to say, however, that this video really is amazing.

One of my friends posted it a few days ago, and I was blown away by it. It depicts “an unscientific point of view on the beginning and evolution of life … and how it could probably end,” hence the title. But never mind that – it could be about dancing squirrels for all I care. The artistry, vision, and nutso amounts of labor that went into creating this are what make it incredible.

Please, give this 10 minutes of your time. You’ll be so glad you did. And go full screen for sure. Sidenote: I did a little bit of research (aka I wikipedia-d it) and discovered that this was filmed in Argentina and Uruguay. The creator is an Italian street artist who conceals his identity and only goes by the name Blu. As you well know, I am a big Michigan football fan, and I couldn’t be more happy to say “Go Blu!”

There were a lot of other interesting things around the web this week, so I figured I’d share them, too:

A prison base in Iraq is now being used as hotel. Shockingly, there are no glowing reviews on TripAdvisor yet.

Fire at the Mercedes-Benz museum? No big deal. Let’s just turn on our INDOOR TORNADO TO SUCTION ALL THE SMOKE INWARD SO THAT PEOPLE CAN ESCAPE. What?

Why you should travel young. Or old. It doesn’t really matter. Just get out there!

ANIMALS TALKING IN ALL CAPS. If you don’t find this funny, then I don’t think we can be friends anymore.

This is the coolest skiing video ever. Even if you’ve never skied, watch it. It is beautiful and artsy and clever and awesome… and doesn’t feature one shot on the mountain.

Lonely Planet lists the best value destinations for 2012, and the world’s best treks. This is when I wish I lived in the future, so that I could click on the links and they would teleport me there.

Like my father, I am a list fanatic. In my collection, I have lots of “someday” lists, mostly with places that I want to travel and/or live. What’s on your someday list?

Omg, a 17 year old just killed cancer. I fail at life.

The top five regrets of the dying. Don’t let any of these come true for you!

The Home Alone house is for sale. Just in time for Christmas. If your kid is a loser and you live in the Chicago area and have a smooth two mill to spare, I’d suggest buying this. It will give him or her street cred FOR LIFE.

Thanks to my friends for sharing many of these links!

Humpworthy Hump Day is a weekly feature where I share something that is, in figurative terms, worthy of a hump. Subscribe to my RSS feed to never miss another humpworthy item!
