Travel, Etc. Links of the Week – 10/17/12
Road trip has been fabulous so far. This weekend, I’ll be in DC enjoying awesome friends and awesome weather.
Here’s what I’ve been reading this week:
- Important! How to keep expensive equipment safe on the road, from Art of Backpacking.
- Loved this post at Nomadic Matt about how to travel and work around the world with WWOOF. WWOOFing in Italy or somewhere equally amazing is definitely on my life list.
- Break-ups suck. Adventurous Kate does not. A heartfelt post from Kate about her relationship ending and what she’s going to do now.
- Does this surprise you? The results were different than I would have expected. Richard Florida at the Atlantic Cities shares the geography of Americans who work from home.
- I could not agree more. Travel guilt is for the birds. Meg & Tony at Landing Standing say f*ck the temples – let’s surf!
- You know I’m a weirdo for elephants. Thankfully, so is Diana at D Travels Round. So much so that she is working at the Elephant Nature Park in Thailand!
- If, like me, you didn’t catch the debate — the ABC’s of the Presidential Debate from Jezebel should suffice as a replacement.
Welcome to my link roundup, article whores! For more article-y goodness, check out my last travel links of the week. Photo credit: http://www.flickr.com/photos/edwin11.

My lofty life goals include raising a gaggle of happy chickens, taking the perfect jumpy pic on every continent, and making YOU realize you don't need to work a boring 9-5 and then travel the world. Use seasonal adventure jobs to travel NOW. What are you waiting for?

So glad you agree about travel guilt! Sometimes we meet so many travelers on the road that are super gung ho about touring the sites, that we start to feel pathetic…
We WWOOFed in Italy this past April and it was amazing! It was an agriturismo that takes a few wwoofers on to help clear truffle trails and do some handiwork. They actually hire longer term work too… so if you’re interested in spending 5 months on an italian farm, let me know!
Awesome, Tony! I would LOVE to WWOOF in Italy. That sounds like a dream come true. If Italy becomes a possibility on the travel schedule, you can bet I’ll be hitting you guys up – thanks!
Love that you picked Diana’s the week, her work with elephants in Thailand is so important and people need to know about it.

YES, I totally agree. Elephants are important. Diana’s important. And her work is VERY important!
