Travel Links of the Week – 1/25/13

Hola! Have I mentioned yet that I’m loving Nicaragua? Well, I am. I hope you’re having a great week wherever you are.

Nothing huge planned for this weekend. A little concert tonight, and then girls night with my Spanish teacher and roomies at a “Nica club” this weekend. Looks like I’m going to have to learn some new moves!

Here are some articles for your weekend enjoyment:

Gary Ardnt of Everything Everywhere is one of the true travel blogging success stories. In this interview with Successful Blogging, he reveals what travel blogs and Playboy have in common.

I felt a real kinship with this homie who had a bad interview and decided to become an ESL teacher in Korea. Maybe his story of twenty-something life and travel on BootsnAll will resonate with you, too.

———–

Nomadic Matt covers two important topics: how to housesit and never pay for accommodation, and the ins and outs of travel insurance.

Great post on Go, See, Write about how to capture the travel photos you really want.

———–

Warning: serious travel porn ahead. This video will make you REALLY want to visit Rwanda. Really.

Alexis Grant weighs in on a topic that many women my age think about, but don’t discuss: why women should create a flexible career before having kids. (And NO, mom, don’t get over-excited. There are no plans for grandkids in the near future!)

Lots of truths in here: how Steph at Twenty-Something Travel was totally wrong about RTW travel. (Nobody takes their malaria pills!)

One of the most important factors in leading a happy existence is your ability to savor life. Zen Habits is here to tell you how.

———–

And, because it’s the weekend, and we’ve all been these people: here are 9 people you become when you’re drunk, via the ever-brilliant Thought Catalog.

Lastly, I had a guest post go up on the Asia Rooms website about things to do in Jeju, South Korea. If you want to see a picture of getting molested by a statue, I’d suggest you check it out.

Welcome to my link roundup, article whores! You should totes sign up for my newsletter. Which will come out soon if a Harbaugh loses the Superbowl… promise.

  1. Great list, Susan! Thanks for including my post, and I love the disclaimer :)
